Hilary Goldstein is my guest this week. We cover his time at IGN including the events that led to his applying for an internship, what sets IGN apart from the competition, and why the Three Red Lights podcast was the greatest insight into what life at IGN was like. There's also plenty of talk about the creative process that led to Hilary's short story collection, "Even Swamp Creatures Get The Blues" and his upcoming Kickstarter for his new comic, Golem. Enjoy. Follow Hilary on Twitter @hilgoldstein and at hilarygoldstein.com/. Finally, if you're interested in backing Hilary's comic, Golem, check out the project's Kickstarter for more details. This week I'm joined by Jeff Rubenstein, Sony PlayStation's Senior Social Media Manager. This means you're in for an hour of talk about video games and social media. Specifically we discuss the events that led to Jeff joining Sony's team, the early years of the PlayStation Blog, and the efforts taken to turn the PlayStation Blog into the primary news source that it is today. Jeff also elaborates on the simultaneous stress and excitement of E3 and why his job is much, much more than just "hanging out on Facebook and Twitter all day." Enjoy. Follow Jeff on Twitter @jeffrubenstein and keep up with the latest PlayStation news @PlayStation and blog.us.playstation.com/. Run Time - 51:09 Send your feedback to feedback@justtalkingpodcast.com.

Episode 142 was all about the pre-Friends For Life hype. This week highlights the aftermath of the conference. I've gathered a wide range of perspectives and personalities to talk about the adults with diabetes sessions, the You Can Do This Project booth, art therapy, the value of Friends For Life for loved ones without diabetes, and why it's important to dance like no one is watching. Enjoy. Here's a list of guests, and important links referenced: Lee Ann - @leeannthill. Diabetes Art Day. World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange. Kim - @txtngmypancreas. Courtney - @iamsquee. Children with Diabetes puts on a conference every year called 'Friends for Life'. In it's most simplest terms, it's a Comic Con for people with and families of people with diabetes. This episode was recorded with a group of attendees, some living with diabetes, some with properly functioning pancreases. The diabetes community means a lot to me so it was important that I properly chronicle these adventures. Rotating a conversation between twelve people is quite the adventure, but it makes for some great audio. Enjoy. Here's a list of the order of guests, in case you lose track: Martin - @woodonwheels. Kim - @txtngmypancreas. Courtney - @iamsquee. Simon - @stroycrow. Jacquie - @badpancreas. Brian - @notmycell. Sara - @saraknic. Jess - @jessmeandd. Amanda - @amandafliger. Josh - @typeboring. Dayle - @dayle7. Run Time - 1:07:08 Send your feedback to feedback@justtalkingpodcast.com. |
